FAQs About Our Ads
Can I turn off ads completely on CareerOne?
No. Advertising revenue supports our ability to offer you industry-leading career services and advice without a fee.
What information does CareerOne use to show me targeted ads?
Targeted ads displayed on CareerOne are based on information inferred from: (a) data that you provide to CareerOne (e.g., ZIP code, age, gender, and interests), (b) your IP address, and (c) the search terms you enter on CareerOne. Additionally, this information may be combined with other information from third parties, including information about your activities on other sites. The information from third parties does not identify you personally, and helps us show you relevant ads.
What is CareerOne's Career Ad Network?
CareerOne’s Career Ad Network (also called "CAN") takes an existing job posting, and shows it to you as an advertisement on non-CareerOne sites. It is targeted to you based on searches you have previously made on CareerOne. See below for an example of a Career Ad Network ad that is targeted based on a cookie containing information on someone who has searched for sales jobs in Sydney NSW and a non-targeted Career Ad Network ad:
CareerOne does not provide any personal information to the advertiser when you interact with or view a third party ad. However, if you view or otherwise interact with an ad, the advertiser may assume that you meet the criteria used to target the ad (which criteria may have been provided by CareerOne as indicated above) and they will have any additional information you choose to provide to them. CareerOne has no control over, and is not responsible for, the practices of those third party advertisers. CareerOne encourages you to visit their web sites and review and read the privacy policies that govern their usage.
